How can I upgrade to Win7 if the upgrade SUCKS?
A file it couldn’t Read? or Write? It doesn’t even say. All the searches online with the error talk about the download version. Bad CD writes, etc. Perhaps MS has the same Burner issues?
I use this Laptop maybe a few times a MONTH! And I can’t even do a an upgrade like this without unexplained issues? Madness!
I am now (and have been) running a chkdsk and will reboot, copy the dvd to a folder, and try again. Oh, it finished, and I couldn’t even get a screen of what it found. Stick a ‘Pause’ statement in, guys? Sheesh.
Further along than last time. Oh, wait. A message. A VISTA message? WTF?
When they say Win7 Home PREMIUM, they really mean HOME! You have to be home for days to get it to work. PREMIUM? Not so sure on this one yet…
FREAKING NITEMARE!
It stopped when I wasn’t looking, so I rebooted. Back into Vista. WTF!!!!???
5 hours and counting on this F&%$ING moronic alleged frigging ‘update’ that this machine would have had as a freebie had I waited two weeks?
And NOW, I’m starting ALL OVER AGAIN?
WHAT THE F*&&, *&^% *&^ Balmer *&^% Gates…
I do have Ubuntu 10.10 sitting here, just waiting, and I can’t spend any more time on this clusterfrak of an alleged ‘upgrade’
Working on the 5th attempt.
Given the week at work, (longer than normal processing times, and failures to pick up 2011 data) I grow tired of finding other companies elemental screw-ups. And I have been using Windows since almost version 1. (I had a copy of 1, but it was useless, so I used the virtual one that Excel 2 needed to use on a dos machine.)
Why did I think Microsoft would get this one right? Bloody press and on-line shills, that’s why.
Since this package is opened, I probably can’t probably return this trash to the store.
What is the point on having an upgrade if it doesn’t frigging work?
Where it will most likely fail again. Then I will spend untold hours calling MS to try to figure out why a disk from Best Buy, made in Puerto Rico won’t upgrade my laptop. Laptop purchased about 2 weeks short of the free upgrade, btw, and this is now 2010, and this crap STILL doesn’t work and is a complete Cluster when trying it? No wonder no one under 30 even tries this crap!

Balmy Ballmer needs to go….
This nightmare – the upgrade that doesn’t work – on a machine with very little, just shows how clueless Microsoft has become.
HOURS wasted trying to upgrade a laptop I bought two weeks before Win7 shipped refuses to upgrade to Win7 from Vista. Home Premium.
I find this unconscionable,
I understand that installing an OS takes time,, but to have to make the attempt over 4 times is ridiculous.
Attempt # 5 is in progress….
