Win7(64) Upgrade DVD Refuses to Upgrade Vista(64) Home Premium! Error: Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file
Seriously, why couldn’t this thing at least tell me WHAT file(s)???
64-bit to 64-bit, DVD. SHOULDN’T be an issue!I bought the Family Pack Upgrade on Saturday (10/16/2010), so I could start with my Vista based HP Pavilion laptop (dv7) which really doesn’t have much on it. All patches are up to date.
I did have Office10 beta, but ran the remove programs on it. All patches are up to date.I have done chkdsks on it, and even tried copying the DVD to the C drive. Mostly I get the “Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file” which tells me ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Great user experience folks! (If you want to go out of business.)
I am tired of spending time on this.
I have been upgrading Windows since Window came out, and have been through versions 2, 2.11, 3, 3.11, 95, and 98 up till now, not to mention Excel 2 and Office 4 through XP.
This is my LAST, FINAL attempt!
After 25 years this is what you have dreamed up? No wonder Google and Apple are eating your lunch, and hitting you in the head with your lunch box!
If there isn’t a simple solution, then this is my last copy of any Microsoft product EVER.
I finally got it further along than I’ve seen before, but it still fails. This is, perhaps, criminal – stealing my money under false pretenses. Perhaps.
Something tells me a bootleg version would install just fine. But maybe I am just annoyed beyond belief. One more time tomorrow.
Then 12 strikes and yer out!
